the house of frida

I feel that Frida Kahlo's art represents and touches something deep inside of me, something that I thought I could only express by replicating her work while adding a personal touch, an element that belongs to me and tells my own story and feelings. Each item in the photos was shot by itself and then edited and mounted on Photoshop, while the backgrounds were created from photos that I took during different periods of my life. Everything was assembled together to create the whole visual. I chose to do that coz i feel that even though Frida's backgrounds are important, she always separated herself from them, plus there was always a story, an intense feeling or a marking event that lies behind each element in her paintings. I wanted to try and bring photography close to painting, staying faithful for both Frida and myself.
